Position Summary
Responsible for sourcing raw material, components and services for the Jarden Outdoor Solutions Asia Operations (JOSAO) Factory in Guangdong, China.
Position Responsibilities
1. Manages the sourcing of raw materials, packaging, supplies and services for the JOSAO operations and facility.
2. Develop and execute the JOSAO Sourcing Strategy including objectives, goals and measures.
3. Works with cross-functional teams to develop strategies & tactics to achieve company objectives. This may include overseeing the completion of projects including planning; Assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work; Evaluating results, etc
4. Interviews vendors to obtain information concerning their business, product/service, price, quality systems, ability of vendor to produce product/service, and terms.
5. Reviews bid proposals from vendors; Enters into supply agreements within budgetary limitations.
6. Maintains records of purchased items, cost, delivery, and performance.
7. Actively reviews quality issues with quality assurance personnel to determine source of defect and initiates corrective actions as required.
8. Develop and communicate supplier performance metrics including corrective actions as required.
9. Participate in Lean Manufacturing programs systemically within JOSAO and Pure Fishing including extending to the relevant suppliers.
10. Works with suppliers to develop strategies and tactics for continual improvement on cost reduction, on-time delivery, cycle time reduction, new product development and quality assurance improvement.
11. Lead the supplier development efforts. Manage supplier scorecard process, identify target scorecard recipients, and drive appropriate supplier engagement to ensure desired improvements and sustainability.
12. Lead strategic sourcing efforts, applying specific, direct focus on building a preferred supplier base. Manage the overall funnel of sourcing activities to achieve desired results.
13. Develop a supplier network based on the principles of Lean.
14. Work directly and indirectly with other coworkers to manage the sourcing and planning/buying process. This could include direct reports requiring supervision, setting goals, coaching, annual reviews and other supervisory activities as required by the company and position.
Required Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree required. APIC's certification and/or Masters Degree preferred.
2. A minimum of five (5) years prior experience in a manufacturing environment is required including demonstrated success working in strategic sourcing and generating cost saving.
3. Knowledge in Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with significant experience in a KanBan managed supply chain preferred.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead in a rapid changing, intense, and demanding environment. Requires drive & motivation to make changes through the organization.
5. Proven success building relationship and leading across diverse functions, cultures and sites. Effective working in a matrix organization.
Competencies
1. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
2. Must have MRP system experience with SAP preferred.
3. Must have good negotiating skills and be able to multi-task.
4. Must be reliable, timely and self motivated.
5. Must be fluent in both written and verbal English.
